I remember what it was like starting out in the world of photography filled with technical data, gear and numbers. For a right brained person like myself it was equal to torture. I had expected a creative, rainbow colored experience when I signed up in a photo school and the reality was so dry it was sobering. It was intimidating and discouraging for a beginner and it was so frustrating that I wasn’t able to create anything until I learned all the history, camera parts and calculations in photography.
Luckily for me, I don't give up easily so I turned to the internet for help and self-taught myself to the point where I was very confident in what I was doing. I became my own translator between the language of photography and the language my brain could understand. Now looking back, it could've been so much easier at the beginning if I had found a like-minded instructor, whom I ended up finding online later.
Ever since I've been mentoring people my goal was to be that translator for them between the rigid world of numbers, measurements, technical parameters and the creative, right brained, ‘learning from my own mistake’ types. When I teach, I don't come from the angle of the technicalities. They are important, and we do cover them but I want my students to be able to use their cameras, create images first and connect the dots at their own pace while they're already in creating mode.
Now you can learn my techniques and workflow by purchasing my online courses and tutorials. These online courses are focusing on clear step-by-step processes with non-technical audience in mind.
For those who would like to get an insight of my world, I offer in person private mentoring sessions for a limited number of students. This type of education is highly personalized to your needs and questions and are available in my portrait studio in Costa Mesa, California.
For those who are not able to attend in person lessons, I am offering virtual mentoring sessions. This is another way of getting personalized education via FaceTime, Zoom or Skype.
